A STATEMENT BORN OUT OF DESIRE

Last night just before heading to bed, I made a statement born out of desire which I put down in writing diligently as the book I’m reading instructed. A book recommended to me by a dear friend titled “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. I had heard of this book in passing many a times and thought nothing of it until my friend shared some of its content with me a couple of weeks ago which tied in with one of my all time favourite life changing books titled “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy. It didn’t take me long to add the book to my shopping basket as well as other mind engaging reads. As I flicked through the pages trying to digest the words with intent, I couldn’t help but begin implementing its teachings. I found the dreamer in me holding on to the hope the turned pages brought with it. I say hope because my life is a living testimony to some of the facts shared albeit achieved lacking in organisation as the one described in this book. So imagine what I could achieve now with organised structure.

Full disclosure, I’ve only just started chapter 4 with many more still to come but yet I find myself eager to act based on faith. Faith that allows me to believe that my desire will come to pass. I am well aware the journey won’t be easy. But as long as I hold on to my desire backed with persistent action, it’ll eventually pay off. I know this because this was how I began my blog and turned it into a full time job. I know this because this is how I taught myself photography. I know this because this is how I got to move and settle in the UK. I know this because this is how I’ve gotten a whole lot of other things from life that have come to pass.

When I take a good look around me I feel content – gratitude if you will. Mostly because I know how my life has come to be but also because I know that what I see now was first born in my mind. A bit like the saying by Robert Sharma which states “everything is created twice, first in the mind and then in reality”. Ideas which have come about born out of a desire. It’s wonderful being a dreamer as it opens up the mind to endless possibilities. However, dreams don’t just come about without persistent action. A dream paints a picture of what could be but it’s left for you to bring to life this possibility which remains endless.

So here I am, at another juncture in life with a key life lesson I needed reminding of which has come in the form of this book that encourages me to hold on to my dreams and act upon them with absolute belief despite the intrusion of fear and failure. A rather not so gentle reminder that “I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul” as William Ernest Henley puts it.
