PS – I LOVE YOU

PS – I Love you. The start to my never ending postscript. I am indeed one of those people who writes letters to themselves. Mine usually takes the form of a journal. And if we’re being completely honest, it’s actually no surprise I have a blog where I share my thoughts. Which I do mostly for me as you’ll come to see.

In a world where time has become a luxury, it is very easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of it all. Running to catch the train, responding to emails in the middle of catch ups with loved ones, playing Candy Crush while watching Netflix, endlessly scrolling through social media, the list goes on and on. And yes, I can sometimes get caught up in it all which meant I had to allow myself an avenue of “Introspective Communication” as I like to call it.

It usually starts with a nice warm shower, where I soliloquise, doing my best to express my thoughts on recent happenings in my life and how I feel about it. And when I finally get a hold of my journal, my thoughts flow, uncensored. Most times my arm starts to ache from all the writing and I tell myself it’s time to conclude before signing out and going back to the daily grind or bed as the case may be.

As I date my communication, gratitude hits me, followed by an overwhelming feeling of appreciation. Then begins my never ending post scriptum. PS – I love you (because it feels good to be loved and in order to receive love, you have to be able to give it). Gratitude is where I can’t stop. And this alone, makes me grateful.

When all is said and done, it’s not hard to see the beauty that lies in my “Introspective Communication”. It allows me to tell my story which will eventually serve as a source of memory especially when I’m too old to remember. A chance for me to see my story again, the way I once saw it. And that alone is reason enough to keep the lines open.
