A LOVELY WEEKEND IN BATH

We recently enjoyed a lovely weekend in Bath. Sticking with our plans to explore more of the UK, we decided to head down to Bath after hearing so many wonderful things about the city. I’m pleased to say that all our expectations were met if not exceeded.

WHERE TO STAY

Bath is packed with quite a few hotels within the city as a quick Google search would reveal. We stayed at the Abbey Hotel which is located in the city centre and conveniently close to key landmarks. The food at the hotel was especially great and we couldn’t seem to get enough of the English Breakfast. There was a restaurant and bar to relax at in the evening over good food and drinks.

THINGS TO DO

There’s a lot to get up to in this city considering its size. We started off by visiting The Roman Baths which was a couple of minutes away from our hotel. A structure which is very reminiscent of Rome. It boasted museums, a Victorian Art Gallery and The Pump Room great for afternoon tea. It was indeed a sight to behold. 

Next to The Roman Baths was the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Another historic structure with ornate doors open to the public. 

The city has quite a number of museums and art galleries considering its size. And we managed to visit a few. One of which was the Francis Gallery. An establishment known for curating works by emerging international artists, in a setting informed by Korean aesthetics. We also visited the Museum of Bath Architecture which holds a very rich history of the city.

Bath also has a lot of gardens which might account for why the air there feels so fresh. Two of my favourites to visit were the Royal Victoria Park and Henrietta Park. The perfect place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. There was a free music festival taking place at Parade Gardens and we got a chance to attend it.

If you fancy a bit of shopping then the Green Park Station a good place to start. A charming market packed with independent stores selling unique items, upscale shops and restaurants in an historic old train station. 

In the evening, Pulteney Bridge is great to walk around. The cool breeze and air brings about the feeling of spring. 

All in all, Bath is a beautiful city that is worth visiting at least once. You’re sure to enjoy the food, beautiful structures and pleasant weather. Needless to say, we had a lovely weekend in Bath and look forward to visiting again.
