THE PROVERBIAL VIRTUE THAT IS PATIENCE

The proverbial virtue that is patience remains a reoccurring life lesson for me. The moment I think I’ve got a grasp on it is the moment I realise there’s more to patiently await with grace I might add as the journey can sometimes be frustrating. Still, I patiently wait.

As someone who loves to take the lead for the most part, its hard to give up control and almost do nothing. There is agony in the unknown before the known. Getting on with life becomes really important so as not to get lost in the thoughts of all the possible outcomes.

As much as I would prefer not to let things just happen when and if they do, the truth is that is just the way of life. There’s a time and season for everything. Most of which involves waiting. One quote that keeps me going despite the unknown I anticipate is one by one of my favourite humans Les Brown.

“Just because fate doesn’t deal you the right cards, it doesn’t mean you should give up. It just means you have to play the cards you get to their maximum potential.”

Before letting go, I have to do everything I possibly can to help the situation. That way I can rest easy knowing that I did my best. After all, all I can do is all I can do. And sometimes, that’s just about enough.

It’s safe to say that my journey has allowed me to be somewhat prepared to nourish the proverbial virtue that is patience. I no longer dread it but instead await the lessons it brings with it, basking in the knowledge that it’ll make me all the better for it.
