When it comes to inspiration I can’t help but identify three classes of people; those seeking it, those looking to give it, and those who just simply live it. My observation has led me to discover some lessons on inspiration which I hope to share in this blog post.
For Those Seeking It
All it takes is for one person to believe in you, and that person could easily be YOU! Never forget that. Try to look inwards for inspiration. It’s a good place to start. An introspective approach will allow you to identify key characteristics that could enable you improve upon yourself. It might be tempting to constantly look up to others as a source of inspiration but you have to be careful not to get lost in their story. Instead, recall a time (no matter how trivial) when you overcame something that you thought you couldn’t, and draw inspiration from it. After all, your story is unique to you and you alone. Plus, it’ll save you a whole lot of disappointment when someone you look up to turns out to be different from the person you imagined them to be. No one is perfect. Also remember that.
For Those Looking To Give It
Remember to check in with your ego every now and again. You don’t need hundreds or thousands of people to inspire, you just need to inspire one person and that person could easily be YOU! As the saying goes, “charity begins at home”. If you practice what you preach, you probably wouldn’t need to preach at all as you’ll embody it day in day out. That alone is enough to inspire the people around you. And soon enough, they’ll in turn inspire others. A simple butterfly effect.
And For Those Living It…
You are the ones who truly inspire. By living your truth, you inspire others to live theirs. You have unknowingly changed people’s lives just by living yours. You probably don’t know it but great people through time have been inspired by you directly or otherwise. And all it took was for you to believe in yourself enough to live your truth. That’s what really matters when it comes to inspiration.
