A PREPPY CELEBRATION IN GANT STYLE

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I recently started working with GANT as this year marks their 70th anniversary as a preppy American Sportswear brand. Hence why a preppy celebration in GANT style is very much called for. GANT is celebrating seven decades with seven icons from their collection including the button down anniversary shirt featured in this blog post. But before getting into it all, I’d like to share a brief introduction to the brand and why I’m happy to be working with them.

GANT is an international clothing brand born in New Haven, Connecticut. GANT made a name for itself as the brand that brought button down shirt to the mass market. I heard about the brand from my friend during my university days and haven’t looked back since then. I always associate GANT with some of the most wonderful memories I had as a student. And most importantly, I love how they’re committed to sustainability by taking on both social and environmental initiatives.

I do love a good preppy look. It’s a relaxed way for me to dress up without trying. While studying in Birmingham, GANT was my go to preppy style. I remember turning up to class one day and coincidentally wearing the same GANT shirt as my close friend. We both laughed as we’ve always had the same taste in style so it wasn’t too surprising.

The anniversary shirt features a very contemporary style, inspired by the classic fit of GANT’s early shirts. The artwork creates a balance between modern and vintage injected with GANT’s heritage. To design the anniversary shirt, GANT paid a visit to its birthplace where they re-discovered their love for the Ivy league University architecture and the symbolism of Never Stop Learning behind the walls of the beautiful campuses. It was very inspiring to say the least especially as someone who believes in always seeking knowledge.

To style the anniversary shirt, I decided to pair it with the Jersey Piqué Skirt and Aurora Low Lace Sneakers which compliments the look quite well. I’ve tied the shirt around my waist to give it a bit more form. It  also works well paired with a pair of jeans or chinos. It’s the sort of look you’d wear to go about your day to day activities without looking over or underdressed.

I wore this to explore the city of Bath which is very reminiscent of some of the artwork featured on the shirt. I visited the university alongside other monuments. It brought back wonderful memories of my time studying especially the time spent with my friends. An experience I wouldn’t mind reliving.

I’ll be styling more GANT icons in the coming months which I’m very much looking forward to. So be sure to follow me on Instagram to see more preppy celebration in GANT style.
