HIDDEN TREASURES IN MANCHESTER

There is quite a lot of hidden tresures in Manchester which you can find yourself just by paying a little attention to your immediate environment. I would admit that being a photographer does give me an advantage of being able to spot the hidden treasures in Manchester as I’m always on the lookout for potential shoot locations.

I recently wrote a Manchester Travel Guide guest blog post for the lovely guys over at Collect Plus which is packed with things to do and places to visit if you ever find yourself in this wonderful city. I completed this guide based on my own personal exploration which continues to leave me intrigued as I discover more of what the city has to offer.

If we’re being completely honest, on the face of it, Manchester is not the most obvious beautiful city especially given that the city centre is full of unused rundown buildings which can be an eyesore. And not to mention, the overuse of red bricks and dull infrastructures which compliment one another in a peculiar and sometimes unflattering manner. Unfortunately or should I say fortunately for me, these infrastructures have refused to grow on me which has in turn made me seek out the hidden treasures in Manchester.

Given that I don’t drive and tend to walk everywhere or take an Uber where possible, I’m able to pay closer attention to my surroundings. And when I discover a location that I find interesting, I waste no time writing down as a potential shoot location. Part of my success is that it has become a daily habit for me. In other instances, I’ve managed to find unusual places in Manchester by doing a quick google search. You’d be surprised what treasures you’d find just by typing in “museums in Manchester” or “parks in Manchester”. The latter which led me to discover this lovely conservatory in Wythenshawe Park where I shot the images for this post.

Manchester has a lot of history. It’s very easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the city centre when surrounding areas hold just as much excitement. I’ve been transported to different times and locations if you will by discovering these hidden treasures. The more I discover, the more it encourages me to carry on with my exploration of what this city has to offer. After all, it is the second largest city in the UK just behind London.

I hope to continue to share my journey of exploring this city, and perhaps it’ll encourage others to appreciate what Manchester really has to offer.
