WOS: NELLY, THE PARISIAN FASHION ARTIST

Jet black hair pulled back in a perfect french plaited ponytail, edges carefully brushed to create wave patterns matching the curls of her glorious afro hair. Her face featuring intriguing features and an ambience exuding femininity. She is perfectly poised within a mosaic swathe to reflect just enough detail to hold your gaze a tad bit longer than you would have perhaps hoped for.

The perfect fusion of high fashion and art in all its nuances, telling a captivating story of strength nicely wrapped up with beauty as the pretty curved bow.

Nelly Siby, the Ivorian Parisian behind @musesuniform is the breath of fresh air we have been longing for in the fashion/creative blogger/ influencer world. Her craft can be seen on the social media app Instagram where an array of strategically placed squares grasp your attention at first glance.

Nelly’s fashion fused with art draws one’s eyes in, where the observer is invited to stay and savour the patterns, colours, lines and shadows, witnessing an enthralling story told through photography.

Her pose never quite obstructing the background, however highlighting the story behind each image.

Nelly’s page is reflective of the idiom “a picture paints a thousand words” as her creativity implores the spectator to make use of their imagination to decipher the message intended to pass across.

She also does a great job at detailing black-owned businesses, as well as a call to allyship. She shares resources on practical ways to support the BLM movement and this information can be found on her Instagram highlights.

A Marrakech morning image on her Instagram can be seen presenting a bouquet of pink roses in a glass vase with delicious-looking waffle triangles, topped with raspberries and a single plump blackberry, served with Black coffee.

This image held my attention as I was drawn to the twirls of the pink rose petals and the perfect synergy created within the bouquet, but most importantly how imperfectly perfect this was. A testament to life itself- beauty can be found anywhere if you look long enough, but never underestimate the unique quirks that follow suit- the real story lies beneath perfection.

Nelly makes no secret of her love for jewellery pieces that add vibrance and intrigue to her images. Her perception is “you never really know a woman until you’ve seen her jewellery”- an accurate quote to describe how one’s favourite fashion pieces forms a narrative that is communicated without the need for words. After all, statistics show 80% of communication is relayed via body language.

With art comes harmony – Nelly and her partner can be seen swaying in a recognisable Afro/Parisian fusion of dance moves. A bit of salsa blended with a bit of coupé-décalé, but what’s most impressive is the rhythm that emanates from a seemingly nsync union, clad in semi-matching mother-earth toned outfits.

A waterfall of white rain whilst clutching an equally white high fashion tote, this ribbed cotton piece looks as comfy/cosy as it looks edgy with a hint of sunshine yellow woven leather keyring to bring a stream of sunrays to this outfit. Another artsy piece that tells a story reminding us to bring sparkle wherever we go and sprinkle it around with no care in the world!

Sat on a gold-coloured fringed plush sofa wearing a sea blue outfit, one resembling the Atlantic Ocean, with beauty products perched softly on a marble table. The allure of beauty merchandise in this array is a visual representation of class and majesty. This art-like advertisement promises high impact.

This ‘goal-getting’ Ivorian Parisian is business minded. She has forged a lucrative path for herself and cut herself a slice of the ‘high fashion merch’ world.

Nelly’s handmade waist ornaments feature glass beads, as well as naturally sourced pearls which are then finished off with circular golden pendants to aid the swing in the hips. These twist these come with is they can be worn in top of an outfit as a jewellery piece for the waist.
