If you’ve been following our blog for a while now you’ll know that one of the many ways that we learnt photography is by taking self portraits. In the past, Craig hasn’t always been available to shoot me but I never let it stop me from getting a shot as I was very keen on getting a lot of practice. Taking a self portrait is easier than most people would imagine. All you need is a camera with an inbuilt self time or a remote, a tripod, and an object to focus on in your stead which you’ll eventually replace when ready to take the shot. Being couple bloggers means we have to shoot ourselves a lot of the time and honing the self portrait skill is definitely a must as we can’t afford to have a photographer follow us everywhere we go, plus we feel very comfortable working together which means we can pose with a lot more ease.

While doing our usual walk about the city centre, in search of a place to shoot, we found a really chilled spot which happened to have a rooftop space. It’s called Terrace NQ. We ordered a bottle of strawberry and lime Rekordelig to share. We took shots of each other first (something we tend to do) before setting up the tripod for the couple shots. As we were in a public setting, this did not deter us when folks kept coming to have their drinks in the space (something we’ve learnt to get use to). We tested the light, picked a corner and began to shoot. We were using the inbuilt camera self timer so there was quite a few back and forth with the camera. We had to come up with poses like me whispering sweet nothing into Craig’s ear, lol.  And finally, looking through the images to make sure we’re in focus and that we’ve got “the shot”. And we did! So now when you see an image of us, you have a pretty good idea of what we did in order to capture it.
